For several years one has been compiling a ‘dictionary’ of Christian words, terms, and phrases that, while expressing or characterizing vitally precious Christian truth, have slowly fallen into disuse, misuse or misunderstanding. The language of true ‘Christianity’ is very precious—a treasure that must not be lost if souls are to walk in the enjoyment of the ‘truth’ our loving God and Father has given believers “in Christ”.

To this end we are compiling an on-line a simplified Bible dictionary. It should be understood that the dictionary will remain a work in progress with new words, phrases and terms being constantly added as our blessed Lord may lead according to His good and perfect will.

The main source of the Biblical words and phrases found in this dictionary are the King James Version Bible which our God has been pleased to bless to the salvation and comfort of dear souls for hundreds of years. At times reference is also made to Mr. J. N. Darby’s New Translation of the Bible which is a very accurate translation for the Bible student compiled from many original texts, manuscripts and Greek editors. We also have referred to “Young’s Literal Translation of the Bible” at times. Along with these Bible translations, some words and phrases are found in a hymn book, known and loved by many, titled “Hymns for the Little Flock”, or LF” have been included.

Some of the terms and phrases we have included are commonly used by Christians, though perhaps not found in Scripture. We would caution our readers not to expect this dictionary to provide in-depth advanced theological study of each word. It is specially presented for young Christians (young in age or in faith). Our prayer is that what is presented will be ‘true’ and ‘simple’ while further encouraging deeper, prayerful study of the precious Word of God and the infinitely wonderful heritage and treasure that our blessed God has given to His dear children who have believed by faith in the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ at Calvary.

Finally, perhaps there is a word or phrase that you have wondered about which you do not presently find in the dictionary. A form at the end of this introduction (and found with each word in the dictionary as well) will allow you to send a request for such to be added. Each request will receive prayerful consideration, and when the Lord grants liberty to do so, will be included.

May the Lord be pleased to bless this little work for His glory!

(We add that when a word is followed by an asterisk [*] it means that the word is not found in the King James Version Bible, but rather, has been found in the JND New Translation Bible (also a very highly recommended translation of the precious Word of God).
